Saving Money On Gifts

It's a shame to waste money on anything.  These are the ways that I save when shopping for gifts (and everything else, really):

  • Ebates - A percentage of what you spend at participating retailers goes back to you when you shop through their portal.  I've used them for awhile and they are the real deal.  Just got a check from them today.  It's free and here are the details on how it works.
  • TopCashBack - Same deal as Ebates, a percentage of what you spend at participating retailers goes back to you when you shop through their portal. I've received money back from them in the form of a gift card.
  • Coupon Cabin - Again, a percentage of what you spend at participating retailers goes back to you when you shop through their portal.  Read the fine print:  I once got less back than I was anticipating because there was a cap on the percentage I got back from that one deal.  ðŸ˜•
  • Groupon - I like buying services and gift cards from them rather than actual products.  Always do a quick internet search before buying, the item you are eyeing might be cheaper on ebay or amazon
  • RetailMeNot - Search for sales and coupons before you buy.
  • Clearance Aisles, people!  Stock up on gifts that don't go out of style:  books, art supplies, Legos, Lincoln Logs, Magna-Tiles, etc.
  • Hip2Save - This site is so addicting.  Ugh!  This place brings all the sales to you.
  • No Birthday Cards, especially for little kids.  They could not care less for the card, so don't waste your $1 to $4.  Use tags, handmade if you can.
  • Wrapping Paper is ALWAYS a dollar at Dollar Tree.  So you really don't even to stock up on this item when it is on sale after the holidays.
  • Email List - Get on the mailing list of your favorite stores so they can notify you when they have a sale.  Let me tell you, there is ALWAYS a sale going on somewhere.  So don't pay full price!
  • Target - After you shop the end caps for sales, use their store coupons, manufacturer coupons, their Cartwheel app, and their redCard 5% discount - all at one time for great deals.
  • CamelCamelCamel - I love this site and refer to it every time I purchase from Amazon.  It tracks the price history of items so you know if you are buying high or low.  You can also actively track items and they will notify you when the price of the item is where you want it to be.
There are so many more sites, but here is the tip of the iceberg for you.  I will continue to add to the list.  Also, there are no referral links attached, so I'm not selling you anything here.

Start Your Holiday Shopping For The Needy

The perfect people to top your holiday shopping list are the needy.  I love that the people at That Daily Deal are promoting thermal socks and hooded sweaters for their local homeless shelters for $1-$3, and animal treats and toys for animal shelters for $1.

Plus, donate $5 to Operation Christmas Child program (run by Samaritan's Purse), and That Daily Deal will match your donation.

People Tree

Just watched "The True Cost" documentary.  People Tree was profiled for their "ethically and sustainably" made clothes, so I had to look'em up.  I was excited to find great clothes and jewelry for sale on their website.  Perfect gifts for the environmentally conscious, but also a great way to share information on a great movement.

Watch the documentary too.
