Fun Ways to Celebrate a Birthday

When the people you love have a birthday, sometimes the usual birthday traditions just don't cut the cake.  Here are some small and fun ways to make a birthday just a little bit different and exciting.

Change their ring tone to "Happy Birthday to You."

Create a temporary website with pictures, and videos.  Let friends and family of the birthday boy/girl know ahead of time so that they can write their birthday wishes in the comment section.

Fill their room, office or car with balloons.  This also works with non-helium balloons.

Fill their yard with helium-filled balloons using golf tees to attach them to the lawn.

Send them a colorful package filled with fun gifts and confetti or balloons.

Make them a colorful cake.

Make them their favorite breakfast or confetti pancakes.

Give them 1 balloon for each year of their age, and put money or a present in each balloon.

Decorate their bedroom or office door with streamers and balloons.

Give them a photo from every year of their life, and assemble them in a special display on a wall or with balloons.  This obviously works better for adults.

Ask for the day off from work or school for them, and treat them to the movies or a special outing.

Write birthday messages on the sidewalk with chalk.  They can read the messages on the way to school or work.

Add a birthday surprise in their lunch bag:  a birthday party napkin, a noise maker, a special cookie, a cake pop, a little bit of confetti, etc.
